Default Good PvP Ranger Build

Hi, i made a pretty good ranger build for pvp and thought id share it to get other opinions and ideas for tweaks. So here goes.

Beast Mastery: 15 ( 11 + Superior Rune + Tamers Mask)
Marksmanship: 12 (11 + Minor Rune)
Expertise: 6 (5 + Minor Rune)
Wilderness Survival: 8 ( 7 + Minor Rune)

Skills Set

Quick Shot
Read the wind
Tigers Fury
Throw Dirt
Poisonous Bite
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
Troll Unguent

Read the wind and tigers fury can be used together to produce a very fast attack combined with the attacks of a dire pet, the damage stacks up. Quick shot can be used to throw in extra arrows when the enemys weak. Throw dirt puts off warriors who come too close for comfort and poison bite is pretty good to use when starting a fight. Troll Unguent provides a nice +7 health regeneration.

The weapon i use is a poisonous shortbow of fortitude ( +30 health) and a rune of superior vigor is a good thing to have too.

So anyway, tell me what you think and add suggestions for improvement. Thanks

No reason for a poisonous string since you arent using any poison arrows. Using Quickshot is wasting your elite. If you want a quick arrow in every now and then might as well use Punishing Shot for the bonus damage + ability to interrupt when needed. Crip shot or poison arrow could be used as a more effective elite. This build relies on a target standing and taking it in the face. If that's the case then crip shot might be the best choice to MAKE him stand and take it in the face. Another thing you could try is using an elite pet attack (enraged lunge or ferocious lunge).

Sorry for rambling, but this build has a lot of weaknesses in it. It lacks interrupts, degen is minimal, self preservation is kinda there tho. You're trying to spread points over 4 attributes and in the end it relies on a pet to deal damage, but has no way of imobolizing a target so the pet can hit it.

I'm sure it'll do just fine for RA tho

two words...rez sig. Where is it? Not having a way to rez on a skillbar in pvp is like leaving your wallet at home. Same goes for pve too. Unless your team requests it, you need to make room for some kind of rez.

energy management is also an issue with a low exp att and using tigers and quick shot together. And your low exp means a couple hex degens stacked on you will outwork the +7 regen of troll.

All in all I would look to remove the pet from your pvp build for now. If you roxxor at pvp and want a challenge, use your pet. Otherwise, it's a non-factor and a waste of skill slots unless you are running a IWAY or something geared towards pets as a team concept in pvp. Pets don't kill people, builds do. A pet just running around attacking targets isn't a threat.

I'm not saying a pet build in pvp isn't viable. I'm sure there are builds out there that are nasty. I'm saying this one, while having a good premise isn't formidable. If I faced you in pvp I wouldn't be scared. The worse you can do to me is poison and I can heal through all your arrows flying at me.

*edit: Sorry, forgot to add throw dirt can blind, but it has such a long recharge time that it turns the skill into one where you have to save until the opportune moment.

You have no damage in this build. Quick shot has no bonus dmg, you have no pet skills that do bonus dmg. all there is is a little degen and +10 on normal arrows from RtW. agains 80 Armor can u even break 30hpdmg with a shot? Its got to take close to an hour to kill a sleeping warrior with this, however you will be out of Energy in about 1 minute.

I don't think I ever run with EXp less than 9, thats as low as I will go, 9, 12, and 15 are good break point levels, thers a chart around here somewhere.

I'm sorry but I just don't get this build. I don't see what it does. You could call it "The Knat attack" cause really all you do is buzz around and annoy folks

I could see this being able to kill some casters (i.e. like the RA ones without a backline monk), but you can't interrupt anything that your target tries to do. Maybe swap Quick Shot for Punishing since Punishing is insta-fire, +dmg, and interrupts. Maybe Penetrating attack instead of Tiger's Fury since it hits like 100s on casters?
